Abstract
Interconnected devices and the true ‘internet’ cause security challenges to organisations with critical legacy systems. This article discusses a number of legacy issues around Industrial Control Systems and ‘untouchable’ legacy devices and proposes a number of easy and effective mitigations to the practices that expose them to the world.

Author Biography
Kayne Naughton, Enex Testlab, Asymmetric Security
Kayne Naughton is a technologist and security researcher with 15 years experience across the education, government and finance industries. Since 2013 he has been running a start-up, Asymmetric Security, focused on making life easier for the good guys and more difficult for computer criminals. He recently co-founded Cosive, an Australian company focused on helping organisations utilise and share threat intelligence. Kayne is a volunteer with the Shadowserver Foundation, a US based non-profit dedicated to keeping the internet safe.
